Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
This website, thebassco.com (the "Site"), is operated by Rixx City Studios, LLC, a Nebraska limited liability company doing business as B.A.S.S. — Black Artists Surpassing Standards ("B.A.S.S.," "we," "us," or "our").
For any privacy question, request, or complaint, contact us at info@thebassco.com or by mail at Rixx City Studios, LLC, 1617 Farnam Street #62, Omaha, NE 68101, United States.
For the purposes of the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation, Rixx City Studios, LLC is the data controller for personal data processed through the Site.
2. Our approach in plain terms
The Site is a catalog and storefront. It does not require an account, it does not have a login, and it does not process payments. Purchases happen on third-party retail platforms, not here. As a result we collect very little personal information, and most visitors can browse the entire Site without providing any.
3. Information we collect
3.1 Information you give us directly
If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you supply it, and whatever you choose to write. We use that solely to respond and to keep a record of the correspondence.
3.2 Information collected automatically
Like nearly all websites, our hosting provider records standard server logs when a page is requested. These may include:
- IP address
- Browser type, version, and language
- Operating system and device type
- Referring page and pages requested
- Date and time of the request
- Response status and volume of data transferred
These logs exist for security, abuse prevention, and diagnosing technical faults. We do not use them to build profiles of individual visitors.
3.3 Information we do not collect
We do not collect payment card details, bank information, government identification numbers, precise geolocation, biometric data, or health information. We do not require registration and we do not maintain user accounts on this Site.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
The Site does not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies of its own. Certain embedded third-party features, described in section 6, may set their own cookies or use local storage when you interact with them. Full detail is in our Cookie Policy, which forms part of this Privacy Policy.
5. How we use information
We process information for the following purposes:
- Operating the Site — serving pages, images, audio, and catalog data.
- Security and integrity — detecting and preventing abuse, fraud, scraping, and attacks.
- Diagnostics — identifying and fixing errors and performance problems.
- Communication — responding to messages you send us.
- Legal compliance — meeting obligations and responding to lawful requests.
Where GDPR applies, our lawful bases are: legitimate interests (operating and securing the Site, responding to enquiries), consent (where you actively choose to use an embedded third-party feature), and legal obligation (where the law requires retention or disclosure).
We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We have not done so in the preceding twelve months.
6. Third-party services
The Site integrates the following external services. Each operates under its own privacy policy, and once you interact with one, that provider's terms govern the data it collects.
6.1 Apple Music
Artist artwork, catalog metadata, and song previews are retrieved from the Apple Music API. Our server makes these requests on your behalf, so your IP address is not disclosed to Apple for metadata retrieval. However, audio preview files and artwork images are delivered directly from Apple's content delivery network to your browser, and Apple therefore receives your IP address and request headers for those assets. Embedded Apple Music players load directly from Apple and may set cookies and receive additional data, particularly if you are signed into an Apple account.
6.2 Retail partners
Links to Amazon, Apple Books, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, Google Play, Bookshop.org, and other retailers take you to sites we do not operate. We receive no personal information about what you browse or buy there beyond aggregate sales reporting from our distributor.
6.3 Content delivery and hosting
The Site is hosted by Hostinger International Ltd., which processes server logs as our data processor. Certain front-end libraries are delivered from public content delivery networks, which receive your IP address when those files are requested.
6.4 Embedded application previews
Some pages embed a live preview of BlvckMeta, a platform we operate. That preview is subject to the BlvckMeta privacy policy.
7. Disclosure of information
We disclose information only in these circumstances:
- Service providers — hosting, email, and infrastructure vendors acting on our instructions under contract.
- Legal requirements — where required by law, subpoena, court order, or other lawful process.
- Protection of rights — where necessary to investigate suspected fraud, abuse, or violations of our Terms of Service, or to protect the safety of any person.
- Business transfer — in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to this policy continuing to apply.
8. Retention
Server logs are retained for a limited period consistent with our host's standard configuration, generally not exceeding twelve months, and are then deleted or aggregated. Email correspondence is retained as long as needed to handle the matter and to maintain a business record, after which it is deleted. Cached catalog data contains no personal information.
9. International transfers
We operate from the United States and our infrastructure is located there and in other jurisdictions used by our hosting provider. If you access the Site from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection law may differ from your own. Where required, such transfers rely on appropriate safeguards including the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
10. Your rights
10.1 If you are in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom
You have the right to request access to your personal data, correction of inaccurate data, erasure, restriction of processing, portability, and to object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority.
10.2 If you are a California resident
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose; to request deletion; to request correction; to opt out of sale or sharing (we do neither); and to be free from discrimination for exercising these rights. You may designate an authorized agent to act for you. We do not process sensitive personal information for purposes requiring a right to limit.
10.3 Other jurisdictions
Residents of Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, and other states with comprehensive privacy laws hold substantially similar rights, including access, correction, deletion, portability, and appeal of a denied request.
10.4 Making a request
Email info@thebassco.com with your request and enough detail to identify the information concerned. We will respond within the timeframe the applicable law requires, generally forty-five days, and will verify your identity in a manner proportionate to the sensitivity of the request. There is no fee unless a request is manifestly unfounded or excessive.
11. Children's privacy
The Site is not directed to children under thirteen, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Some titles in our catalog contain mature themes and adult content and are intended for adult readers. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact info@thebassco.com and we will delete it promptly.
12. Security
The Site is served over encrypted HTTPS connections. Credentials used to retrieve catalog data are held server side and are never exposed to your browser. We apply access controls and keep software current. That said, no method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
13. Do Not Track
The Site does not track visitors across third-party websites and therefore does not respond differently to Do Not Track browser signals. We do honor recognized opt-out preference signals such as Global Privacy Control where applicable law requires.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or the law. The effective date at the top will change, and material changes will be highlighted on the Site. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
